Replacing Halogen Down Lights With Led Downlights.

Three of the Halogen downlights in our bathroom don't work anymore. We bought some equivalent LED lights and tried to replace the Halogen ones. When we put the first bulb in, it flashed and then went out and wouldn't turn on again.

Is it not posible to change these lights? Do I have to stick to Halogen?

Tilly... are you mixing up mains voltage halogens with low voltage (12v) LEDS?

Probably GU10 lamps Tilly.

Check the box. It'll state mains 240v or low voltage 12v

We don't have the box for the original lights and the new ones are GU10

The 12 volt ones are different, with 2 thin spindly pins. The mains 240v ones usually have 2 thicker, more solid pins as in my link above.

So I can't think what's happened there. Maybe it was just a duff one.

The original lights have tiny sharp, pointed pins. 12v

What is the replacement LED light please, Mr B?

Remember that wattages vary Tilly, for different brightnesses.

And two shades.. bright and warm. Some have a third shade too.
