If you can remove the canvas from the frame I would try to use hand cleaner gel (the stuff mechanics use) with a small nail brush or something and just work at it and rinse and rebrush etc... until it is gone. Might take some time though, but it should not damage the fabric.

the canvas doesnt come off, but i will try it still, thanks!

Some tips from http://members.tripod.com/~Barefoot_Lass/grease.html

"To remove grease stains from any fabric, sprinkle talk all over the stain, leave overnight, wash as normal."

"For a set-in grease stain, spray with WD-40, let it sit for about 30 minutes, then treat as any grease stain."

"For really tough grease stains (like bicyle chain grease), squirt on lighter fluid and work it in, then wash."

Apparently, pouring a little Coca Cola on the stain also does the trick, or if necessary, add a whole can to the wash! Loads more tips on the site. ;c)

Sorry, that should read 'sprinkle talc all over the stain'... I don't really think talking to it will do the trick!
