We will be travelling up to edingburgh shortly and would like to buy a one week bus pass for us both. Can I do this online or can I buy a weekly pass on the bus? I've looked at Ridacard information but am not sure that that is what we need.

However there would seem to be little point in doing so, as you can simply use your debit card to pay for your fares (which are then capped at a total of £22 per week, which is exactly the same as a Ridacard would cost you anyway):

^^^ As far as tourists are concerned, Tuvok, there are really only two bus operators in Edinburgh, with Lothian Buses covering almost all of the routes that any tourist might possibly want to use (unless, unusually, they happen to be staying in one of the very few areas that are only served by First Bus).
Route maps for Lothian Buses are available here:

It's also worth noting that the vast majority of tourist attractions within Edinburgh can be reached on foot anyway. It's a very small city centre but one that seems to defy the laws of physics, as the hills seem to always go up but never to go down 😊
