//French police closed train traffic to and from Paris Gare du Nord station on Friday after an unexploded World War II bomb was found on tracks leading to the terminal, train companies reported.
The bomb was found on the tracks during overnight works, train line RER B posted on X. Media said the discovery was made in the area of Saint-Denis, a suburb of Paris.
The Eurostar and all other trains were halted as police worked to disable the device.//

Found on the tracks? Why hasn't it been spotted in the past 80 years?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ."On the tracks" can mean anywhere between one boundary fence and the other (in the UK the equivalent term is "on or about the line"). plus without knowing exactly what works were being done when the bomb was discovered (possibly drain clearing or maintenance, or digging a new under-track conduit for signalling cables), it would be difficult to speculate why it's taken 80 years to come to light.
