Humankind has embarked down a radically new evolutionary trail. By bravely taking the control of fire into our own hands we have taken on reality in a way from which there is no turning back. Whether we learn to reason wisely will determine if this road leads to a dead end for our species.
Eyesight is one example of how we have already circumvented the survival of the fittest.
With the advent of corrective lenses and the advantages offered by other technologies this facet of our survival no longer determines whether we are eliminated by the need imposed by reality for naturally perfect eyesight. However it is entirely possible that genetic engineering will eventually make up for this circumvented control by natural selection and restore our vision through a new and improved process.
Time will tell the tale of the tail.
