blood tests

I have just been to the doctors and she wants me to have blood tests as soon as possible. The thing is I have been taking epherdrine tablets to speed up my metabolism and I'm wondering if they will know from the blood tests? Will it show up? or do they have to be looking for it in the first place? I'd rather my doctor didn't know I was taking these.

They would have to be looking for it... and request that the labs do a toxicity screen.

It all rather depends on the reason you visited her in the first place... but I'd make an educated guess that your GP is checking your Full blood count, (red cells, haemoglobin, white cells, plasma etc), your electrolytes (sodium, potassium etc)

If you are trusting your GP to sort out your health problems, wouldn't it be fairer to be honest with her? I don't know about the effects of epherdrine but it might save time in the long run.

i believe that epherdrine is like speed and you should be careful taking them. they have removed it from a lot of products in the states cos of adverse effects. so you know it's not too good when they do it cos they normally let anything pass! are you taking them to lose weight?

The GP won't know but it may help them to sort out your problem if you tell them - not only may the gp make a misdiagnosis but drugs they may give you may interact and make you more ill or you could have to undergo a lot of uneccessary tests - bad for you and to the nhs if you don't admit to it. Why won't you tell them?

I read your q with some concern. The drug you are taking is a vasoconstrictor that raises your blood pressure and heart rate. These two effects in themslves are dangerous to the body in a 'normal' individual. My point being , why are you having blood tests. If its because of your BP being too high for example then its all a waste of time anyway because YOU know why its too high???!!! Sorry, in answer t your q then NO your GP won't know.
