Does anyone kow if it is possable to lower a car on water?? I have an idear on how to do it, but does anyone know if it is possable?

In a word, No. You cannot get energy out of water without first putting some in.

Anyway it's the hydrogen released from water that becomes the fuel.

I think that initially there will be hybrid systems to increase mpg before we can swich across.

but soapbox, to get the hydrogen, you have to put energy in first. More energy has to go in that you'll ever get back.

The only possibility of making a gain is if you can perfect nuclear fusion. Fleischmann and Pons in1989 claimed they had achieved this but nobody could repeat their results and their work was discredited. If you can do this Alexmeads, you will meet much scepticism.

Car powered from water? seems like an urban myth (much like the ones where people say they've invented one, and the oil giants arrange accidents etc)
Basically, Hydrogen and Oxygen form quite a stable bond in the form of water and require masses of energy to split this bond, otherwise why would it be used for firefighting :)

plants can use sunlight to split water into hydrogen which they use, and oxygen. Fill the car with plants, open the sun roof, collect the oxygen and use this to help burn the petrol and thus power the car

dynamicduo, I suggest you brush up on your photosynthesis. Plants cannot split water into hydrogen and oxygen. You are getting muddled with the combination of water and carbondioxide to create glucose and release oxygen. At no stage is hydrogen released.

The first step in photosynthesis is the photolysis of water. The water is split, the oxygen is released and the hydrogen is picked up by the hydrogen acceptor NADPH. The reduced NADPH is then used in the Calvin cycle to convert carbon dioxide into sugars.
