You may even be able to get some work experience in one of those fields to help you make up your mind, always worth asking. I work in Hydraulic Engineering and we mainly supply to the big aviation test centers in the UK as well as some F1 and rally car companies.
Get some numbers and start ringing round, you'll find most people willing to help and offer advice. There's many engineering industries that are just not attracting youngsters, so there's quite a lot of scope. Good luck, and well done for giving it some thought, so many people just carry on blindlessly, not realising that the decisions you make now can serious enhance your career choices at a later date.
Hi ASTO5
what about thinking of a career in military engineering, I spent 17 years in the Royal Engineers, trained as a coded welder, construction design, demolitions etc etc. There are loads of trades to choose from, why not pop into the local army careers office and have a chat, it won`t cost you anything.
Hope this helps
