Does anyone know what the triangular bit in the net that comes with the tablets is for?

Yes! It gives it a bit of boyancy, with the idea being that the bag stays at the top of the washing and gradually disolves rather than getting trapped in a particular bit of clothing. Whether it works, I have no idea. I know mine often don't seem to completely dissolve.
my cousin finds them useful to wipe condensation off the inside of her windscreen on cold mornings... never tried it myself, it must be a bit small?!
As far as i am aware, it introduces blue to the washing solution. This is a minute amount and the reason for it is to give whites a boost.

Apparently, humans perceive white to be 'whiter' if some blue colour spectrum is within the white colour.

Go figure!
