I have always wanted to go into a job in science. One thing that i have recently developed an intrest in is genetics and virus'. Is their aa scientific speciality in which we examine the actual make up of virus and identify what it is in them which causes theie effects


I know its obscure but is there such a speciality?

Yes. It's called Virology. It's a part of Microbiology.
Virology is the branch of microbiology that deals with viruses and viral infections.

All virologists have qualified and trained in microbiology before becoming virologists.

It's certainly not an obscure branch of microbiology as many diseases of animal and plant life are caused by viruses.
