Ice cubes in urinals

Why do they put ice cubes in men's urinals???

I am not sure that they are actually ice cubes. I recently used a toilet in a hotel and noticed that the "cubes" resembled something that resembled a cross between sugar cubes and marshmallows. Unlike ice cubes these certainly were of a certain colour (green?) For obvious reasons I certainly did not pick one of them up to investigate further.

Mind you if they were ice cubes then perhaps it would help cool down the liquid that enters it!

I have just asked someone in my office and they say it's to cool it down. Not quite sure what the necessity is, it's not like hot liquid catches fire...........

I think the things you are talking about GMH could perhaps be some kind of odour eater?

Do they? Clearly I don't pay enough attention while using the urinal. Maybe that's why it always goes all over my trousers.

Maybe it's to give the guys something to aim at!
You know guys are big kids and if they are trying to hit the ice cubes there's a chance they might actually pee in the urinal instead of all over the surrounding area.
