Just a guess, but presumably not, as the mushroom cloud is made up of displaced rubble and dust created by the explosion.

I got the link to work, but just clicking on it doesn't work, did you know that you now have to use html tags for bold, italic, underlined and hyperlinks now?
Well the explosion itself would appear as a expanding sphere, but without anything to push out such as dust, atmosphere, water vapour etc... it would probably be a very small effect which would vanish quite quickly.
watch the vidio trinity and beyond
you wouldnt get anything because you needs three things for it
1. ignition 2. sumat to burn (in this case the nuke) and 3. oxygen and because space is a vacum it wont work
Question Author
but i thought nukes were different, you don't need to burn them
potterfan3, I'm of similar persuasion.
Fire requires oxygen but you only need heat to burn.

Nuclear fission is caused by a chain reaction within a critical mass. A detonation is used to combine the nuclear fuel into a critical mass but any oxygen required for detonation is onboard or part of the explosive mixture.

Mushroom clouds are the result of debris carried aloft in thermal updrafts making this an atmospheric phenomenon.

But I'm just guessing. None of the real nukologists seem to be talking for some reason? Oops, got to go. Someones beating down my door again?
As per Daleroy - there is footage of a Burst in the upper atmosphere on that DVD
