Broken Vertebrae - best recovery?
6 Answers
In November I broke my first lumber vertebrae - does anyone know the best way about going about fixing muscles etc after this kind of injury?
I still have rods in my back but they will be removed come January 07. Does anyone know if a Vibrogym would be good for me?
Can you fill me in on any general details about breaking vertebraes? I hear you lose height? I also hear it doesn't break like a normal bone but in actual fact crushes? Any information would be great.
Many thanks

however, if you have questions about exercising before then (?), or possible side effects from your injury, call your consultant...he should be able to help, or at least refer you to physio who can advise you.
good luck.

Hi Flick,
My youngest son had an accident 3 years ago where he broke 3 vertibrae, he had plates put in,his are staying, from what I can remember, they will sort you out with physio,so don't worry the bones actually knit back stronger than what they were before the break, just take it easy do as much walking as you can, just don't overdo it, I can't say my lad has lost any height, why would you?I also don't know about vibrogym, just ask the physio, wish you a speedy recovery, take care, and don't worry, Ray

Hi Flick,
If you have any worries talk to the surgeon, but as I say you must try not to worrymmy son has made a complete, recovery, every vertebrae was cracked in his back plus the 3 broken, but he gets no pain from his back, he gets pain from the hip he broke at the same time, and is now waiting for hip replacement,so be positive ans ask loads of questions, take care, Ray,
As i said can't see he has lost any height, but then he is 6 ft 4
