ok guys TRY IT !!!
buy a bottle of milk (in a plastic bottle) semi skimmed will do, pop it in the freezer and leave it 24hrs. then tell me its not Orange.
i did this and took it to a local school and they didnt have an answer
OK done that ...ermmm it's not orange .... next question?
Do you have a sodium lamp in the room where your freezer is?
If I went to my local school waving an HDPE bottle of frozen semi-skimmed about and shouting 'it's orange !! ', I don't think they'd have an answer either !!

(Short of phoning the local police, that is - which happens to be Forest Gate nick.)
I have wondered this myself. And it does go orange - it looks like juice.
hmmm, strange. Mine's never gone orange when frozen.
My friend often freezes milk and it does often have an orange tinge. My only guess is that it may be to do with the rate of freezing, that dictates the way the fat in the milk freezes. If the milk freezes quite slowly, I assume that there are large lumps of fat which freeze long after the water content does and this fat gives an orangey tinge. When the milk defrosts, it recombines with the water and looks a normal white.

Pretty much like the fat on a joint of beef is yellowish, but the fat in the tray it's cooked in can be white. Maybe both types of this beef fat are also present in milk and the yellowy type freezes last.

Just a guess, please send my Nobel prize to P.O Box 7, East Cheam.
