What strength is it ?

I usually use lime to neutralise the acidity - dont ask me what I do with it after that.
As woodchopper says, it is important to know the strength of the acid.

Are we discussing fuming nitric acid, concentrated nitric acid or dilute nitric acid?

What country are you in? Having been a visiting professor and consultant in a dozen or so USA universities, I can tell you that disposal of nitric acid by what they call "the public sewer system" is illegal in most states no matter what the concentration of the nitric acid.
