whatever happened to the white dog poo that we used to see in the seventies?

White poo. we are always having conversations about white poo and that you dont see it any more. Bring back white poo thats what i say.
white poo doesnt affend anyone does it? not like the brown poo eww yuck.
what happened to it is a mystery but im on the look out for some now and it will bug me till i find some.

When did you last see a dog gnawing a bone? Bones are a good source of calcium and most family pets were frequently given these in past times, both for the calcium and to strengthen their teeth. One result, of course, was that their f�ces were frequently white. Nowadays, packets of food are the commonest way of feeding.

Also lots of well meaning but misinformed people tell people not to give their dogs bones. (Including some vets).

If more people gave their dogs bones there would be less chewed furniture and favourite shoes, and less vets bills for cleaning teeth, and emptying anal glands (if you don't know, don't ask!).

Yes, I know there is a small risk that bones can splinter, but if you give them large knuckle or marrow bones there is
very little risk. I have fed bones to dogs for nearly 30 years and have not had one problem (but lots of white poo!).

White poo is illegal under EU Directive 126754.4 section d, subparagraph B. "All poo must be brown and fit within the measurements set out in the community document entitled: Euro Poo and what you can do to support it". Any dog found to be excreting poo that is non standard under the directive is liable to be sent to an EU poo correctional facility.

My friend thinks that white poo was because it was old poo. He had dogs for years and he never saw it come out white. His mum gives her dogs lots of bones now and they never have white poo.

calcium does play a part - hyena dung is persil-white... but my impression is the same as joannewatson's: that it was white because it was old. That doesn't explain why you don't see the old stuff around now, but I expect New Labour are grabbing it all as soon as it appear and putting into the party manifestos.

I think the problem with bones is if they are COOKED bones..........they are very prone to splintering whilst RAW bones are not nearly so bad. I'm for NO POO, never mind what colour of the rainbow it comes in in still smells disgusting .........<G>

The Campaign for Racial Equality decided it was politically incorrect to describe it as 'white' poo. Therefore it has to be described in terms of its origin, i.e. ethnic minority poo, caucasian poo or afro caribbean poo.

Dogs have white poo when they're fed a natural diet because there's no rubbish to come out! Everything is used up! My dog has white poos, they dont stink and she's fed a natural diet

according to braniac tonight its because calcium bone meal is no longer put in tinned dog food, strange how you can miss something like poo..

my 6 dogs all have bright white poo, thanks to the amount of nice white bones and chicken wings they scoff! Think that's the reason why there is a shortage of white poo, because people have been educated/brainwashed (delete as necessary) into feeding their dogs canned yuck which comes out the other end just like it went in! Bring back white poo for sure,it's the sign of a happy and healthy dog!
