The other day something tripped our power, I was in the middle of cooking a meal, so reset the power and carried on doing what I was doing. A couple of days later, I thought I would reset the clock on the VCR, however when I tried to turn the unit on, the display would show up for a couple of seconds and then go off. I am now thinking that it must have been the vcr that tripped the power as it is the only logical explanation. Does anyone know if it would be worth opening up the vcr to see if Mr Jules can fix the problem, or are these things not 'user serviceable'. It is an LG model number LV803 if that is any help.

If it's an LG - throw it as far away as you possibly can! Various supermarkets seem to sell them for 20 to 50 these days so best just to go and buy a new one, or a VHS/DVD combo.
