to keep warm. not needed so much now with clothes and central heating but darn useful a while back.
There are other reasons too.

Hairs increase the surface area for dispersal of pheromones which is why we still have pubic hair and underarm hair.

Head hair helps protect against sunburn.

Eyebrows help deflect sweat.
And beards are useful for storing leftovers for later consumption...
Alternativly pubic hair could serve to cut down friction during intercourse (genital) or walking (underarm and buttocks); demonstrate sexual maturity to a potential mate; or even, hats off to rojash, act as a trap to catch unwanted visitors from entering the vagina.
Eyelashes are a form of body hair, they stop dust from getting in your eyes. x
