what kind of winter

has anybody heard what type of winter we will have in the UK, mild or harsh,have there been any indicators,eg tempereture of oceans or how cold european land mass is?

Well this time last year everybody seemed to be predicting a really severe winter and it turned out to be really, really mild in the end.

I'm not convinced long term forecasts are particularly reliable
