Hi ja ... I ignored the speed traps ! :o)
You could say we've got 9 . . . . (3 trees are 9 !)
43. Monkey puzzle ?
38 English Hair becomes Scots Fir North of the border, thow nowadays it is more usually called the Scots Pine.
I still think 43 is Ginkgo biloba. several sites say things along the line of 'Ginkgo biloba trees are the oldest in the world, lone survivors of a family that shared the earth with dinosaurs'

(That was until someone discovered the Woolamai pine)
I'm sure you are right about the Ginkgo biloba, gen2, but monkey puzzle trees have also been around since the time of the dinosaurs. Not sure which is oldest.
Monkey puzzle only 60 million years old, ginkgo biloba 270 million years old , so no contest!

Thank you all for your answers.

gen2/slaney - think I'll go with Ginkgo biloba. I've just been looking in the Reader's Digest book which says that it flourished 250 million years ago.

johnalex/sarumite - I like your sense of humour, I'm full of cold at the moment and you two have really cheered me up with your banter!
