I have a vague idea of what I want to do....

I have recently noticed that the subject which plays on my mind the most is the state of Britain and more importantly London, because i live there. I believe that this country is pessimistic and it drives me mad! When we are told about our best qualities we crap all over it by pointing out the worst aspects of this country/city. I don't want to mutter and moan about this country/London or just pack up and leave, I want to do something about it. I know this would be difficult considering our negativity is socialised into us by so many factors (attitudes of some parents, schools, television, housing for some, weather!) and for so many years, but there has to be away! I know becoming a politician and working my way up would be the suitable career choice, but feel that you either become successful by selling your soul, or remain a honest politician and get no where. Im looking for a career which will enable me to work within a group who are assigned, or more importantly dedicated to working on building London up to its full potential without having to go down the politics road... I know it makes no sense what I am trying to say, but I really want to do this. It would be nice if someone could give advice. I am not in university yet, I am 17, and I am not sure of what I want to do, although I am very passionate about Sociology, History and Politics.

You have to remember that people in all countries are always grumbling because there's always something they would do differently. Look at any family and there'll be always one or two who grumble at the rules.
Being able to get up and change things is a challenge so you could join a political party you see eye to eye with and hopefully get people to listen. You also might like having a look at Greenpeace sites or a charity site where you can really help physically.
Good luck to you in whatever you do.
