Is anyone as excited as me to hear the news of the discovery of this new planet ,Gliese S8IC , given that it is the most likely planet discovered so far , where ' life ' might be ?

My 11 year old daughter's reaction to the news was
' interesting ' :-)

I wonder if we will be able to spruce up our little planet in time for a less than embarrassing cultural exchange if it should ever come to that?
Most positive reason for it having potential for life is that it orbits a long lived type of star, and appears to be in the habitable zone ie liquid water temperatures.
Still a hell of a lonmg way away.

20 light years, or to put it another way:

117,569,762,410,179 miles

Give or take a few million. Wonder how much that would cost in a taxi?

20 Light years is indeed a long way away for us humans - but in terms of the size of the universe , it is only up the road .
