forgive me for being thick but i can't seem to get my head round these,
"gran is 26 years older than mum, and mum is 26 years older than tom, if tom is 15, how old is gran ?"

number represented by the roman numeral "XLIII"

any help greatly appreciated.

1. 15 +26+26=67
2 43 (50-10+3)
It seemed a very simple sum to me and I made the answer 67. Tom 15, Mum 26 yrs. older so 4l, gran 26 years older than her so surely 67. The roman numeral is only 43 - ten to the left of 50, equals 40 plus 3. Perhaps someone else can see it differently?
I read it as one question so now it makes sense

thank you, sorry, can't help being thick when it has anything to do with maths !
I am hopeless at these things and am so pleased for the answer. oops now I'm letting everyone know how thick I am.

hi clare, glad i'm not the only one who can hardly ever figure them out, mr allotment usually does the sudoku's and maths one's but he's out fetching the eggs! thank goodness for AB, going out later down by the river for a few drinks and a pub meal as the weathers so lovely, ttfn.
