Which type of microscope ?

I am a novice to microspocy, being a physics teacher, but I would dearly love to explore the microscopic world of living organisms.

I don't know what magnification I can expect without extra equiptment or specialist knowledge. Is there a limit to binocular magnification or is monocular the way to go. I do not want to waste time and money on equiptment that will be redundant to my purposes (to see the smallest things possible eg microbes) within a short space of time as I am very impatient when I induldge in an interest.

What do you recommend?

I would recommend a few things:

1. Stop asking questions under my username.

2. Get your own AB account.

3. Stop spending our money on 'toys' that will ended up in the 'toy' box after a fortnight.

4. I think you should discuss any large purchases with you partner first otherwise she is likely to go ballistic and you may well suffer.

5. Where exactly is this microscope to be housed? Actually, I can think of a place but it may cause you some discomfort!
