Why do we only see one side of the moon? And why don't we ever get to see the dark side from earth?

I don't know to be honest.

If we have why haven't we been back for 30 years?

I dont get Pink Floyd...

My hubby loves them and I have given them a go but prefer 'Scissor sisters version of comfortably numb!

But anyway back to the moon. where on it is the Sea of tranquility and can I see it through binoculars????
Sorry - I really didn't mean to create such a fuss!!
Question Author
No need to worry Waldo, a thread is a thread!
I'd like to stick this thread where the Sun don't shine!

Oooohoo hooo . . . that tickles!
Butt . . . seriously.

The half of the Moon and Earth facing the Sun are thereby fully illuminated. The other half of each are accordingly darker by virtue of their own respective shadows.

The dark side actually receives as much sunlight throughout the course of the month as the side facing us. When we see the Moon half lit, the dark side opposite the Earth is also half lit. When the Moon is not lit on the side we observe from Earth this is called a New Moon and the other side is completely illuminated by the Sun.

Only when the Moon is Full is the dark side of the Moon actually dark. Wish You Were Here!
And now for the answer to your question?
