he did jump down from the last step, but i think his right foot touched down first.

I'm with warpig, I'm sure I remember that on the footage he jumped down the last few steps from the ladder, so he put both feet down together??

I looked it up on Wikipedia - it is his left - there is a picture of him stepping down here:

just done a bit or research.... Armstrong felt the surface of the moon with the toe of his boot BEFORE he stepped down for his "one small step".....

yes there has... i dont know how many, but i think 13 people have set foot on the moons surface...
feel free to correct me on that, its a number i have in my mind, so could be way off the mark !

There have been 6 landings Apollos 11 12 14 15 16 and 17 - The last landing was on 15th December 1972. The whole lunar landing programme only lasted 3 and a half years. There is a planned NASA lunar landing in 2018 or 2019.

It's quit a big jump down from the last step of the Lunar Lander to the surface.

Pete Conrad was the third man on the moon on Apollo 12.

His first words were "Man, that may have been a small one for Neil but that's a long one for me!"
