Dreams
8 Answers
I have very lucid dreams every night and often experience recurring dreams but last night I had a completely unusual dream. Before I get set upon for being a perve, this is completely genuine. Me and my Dad who I worship above all, ended up in a horrendously compromising position (can;t explain how bad), in hindsight I think it was actually ex although I thought it was my dad... all of my relatives were on a coach outside and ended up accusing my dad of having an affair with an aunt by marriage and I ended up with a first cousin who does not exist in reality - if anyone can explain this, I would be extremely grateful as this has greatly disturbed me.
Before the usual suspects make their smart alec replies, this has really upset me, 12 hours on and am still feeling uncomfortable. Genuine replies PLEASE.

Just as you have nightmares as a child that make no sense and scare the hell out of you, as an adult, dreams can be scary and bear no relation to your real life. you might well have been thinking about your dad (what with Christmas coming up and seeing your family etc) and this has just got jumbled with what's really going on in your life.
Without being flippant, I frequently dream that I have a dog or (even more worryingly!, a baby!) even though I have neither. It's probably just that during the day I've seen a dog in the street or a baby in a pushchair in a shop and my brain remembers that, stores it in my brain and throws it up in a random lottery while I sleep.
I know it's freaky when it happens to the extreme that you've experienced, but there's nothing dark about it or anything to be worried about. It's just your daft old brain running through info and getting everything mixed up when you're trying to get some much-needed sleep.
Please don't worry - you're not the first, or the last, to have had such a dream, and it's absolutely nothing to worry about.
(PS I've got a degree in psychology, and if there's one thing I've learned, it's that the brain is still not fully charted and does things that we don't expect from time to time)

Ha ha! You do that. Whenever I'm stressed I have dreams about being chased, running down dark alleyways and hiding in a bush while my assailant creeps up on me. It's never happened, never will (I'm not daft enough to put myself in that kind of situation), yet I always wake up shaking, despite knowing it's just a dream. Have a great Christmas... and enjoy Spooks! x
I don' t think that you can read anything into dreams. I once dreamt that I had murdered somebody and buried them in sand (that happened to be my living floor!?) and that my 4 year old started to make sand castles and the blood started floating to the top of the surface. I was sentened to life imprisonment and never saw my son again.......even though sometimes I really dont like certain people I have never actually had the urge to murder them (well not often anyway! lol) I wouldnt worry, bizarre dreams happen to everybody at some stage. Just don't give it another thought.
If you have proper lucid dreams and you know they are, try to get out of the dream, just say to yourself it is a dream, then when you wake up you will not feel as uncomfortable about it although when it is a good dream, you also know it is not real.
I have had lucid dreams since 18 months old, so now I control them, most of time............hence I am not asleep lol !
