What are numbers like π (pi) and φ (phi - golden ratio etc.) called again?

So annoying - its on the tip of my tongue! :O

Is Irrational Number what you're looking for?
They are irrational numbers. Pi is also a transcendental number but Phi is not- at least, according to the standard definition (but some people seem to disagree with this).

Irrational! Perfect thanks, what a relief lol! I kept thinking irrelevalant no idea why! haha x
Although it is true to say that pi etc are irrational numbers, I believe that it is more correct to call them mathematical constants � which just happen to be irrational numbers.
