Badly worded question, poor use of the term "dorsal" I feel that I may have mislaid you here, as the "posterior" part of the trachea is the oesophagus which is smooth muscle.

Dorsal and posterior have differing anatomical meanings.
The answer is actually A. Smooth muscle. Just took a test with this question, and A was the answer.
