Intriguing. I've yet to see any plug that saves energy. Maybe it's an energy monitoring plug.

All I know it switches off your stand by things on the TV, DVD, PC etc.

Its free, what more do you want?
No - it's a powerdown plug which can switch off peripheral devices that normally may stay on standby, thus saving power (albeit small amounts perhaps).

I got myself a free one and I'm 40 and in full time work(no benefits whatsoever).

Seems to work OK!
The site says it is suitable for computer equipment such as printers. I've ordered the bulbs for my mother.
