Hi all, im a final year student in forensic science and I am doing my dissertation on low copy number DNA profiling. I need to come up with an original issue about the subject. Could anyone give an opinion please?
In the future, with more use of this technique and growing DNA data-bases, inevitably a number of false matches will be identified.
Many DNA samples are also being checked for a close match where a relative may be a match. Although this issue is not unique to low copy number DNA, it is an area of the science for consideration.
I don't understand. Given that you're a final year student, you should be capable of devising this for yourself. You should have encountered enough scenarios by now to give you some idea.
I suggest you have a chat with your tutor(s). He/she should be able to point you in the right direction.
In the not too distant future, DNA analysis will be capable of directly analysing DNA from a single cell making the low copy number technique obsolete End of dissertation.
