I live in Brighton, and if I look directly out to sea, which would be slightly South West, there is a bright star a little 'to the right'. What is it? thanks.
I suppose I could have phrased it: "That bright star up there, is that Venus by any chance?"
Or, "It's a long time since I've seen Venus, is it at all visible in the southern sky?"
thanks anyway
You just have to put up with it, Richard. Explaining that that 'star' is Venus has to be done as often as explaining that man is not descended from apes but is an ape. They're regulars.
