equivilant of KG in volume (litres)
What volume in litres would 20KG of a solid occupy?
To clarify, I have a sack of 20 KG of horse feed (small pellets) what size of a bin will I need to store this in? As most bins/storage boxes are measured in Litres I need a conversion.
Am I correct in thinking 1kg of a solid is equal to 1litre?

this is a good point, sometimes, if the feed is, for example, a chaff it contains lots of small chopped fibers so is very compressed when packaged, but then expands on a great scale when opened (I learned my lesson recently with this).
But the feed i am currently looking to store is more of a solid, less "poofey" than chaff (to sound completly ignorant of all science phrases) and isn't compressed in its packaging - so I shall give it a guess and see how I get on.
Thank you :)

Rollo's suggestiom is the best way to be accurate. Though it does depend on the density, however for reference 1 litre of water weighs one kilo and astonishingly would be a cube 10x10x10 cms. Bloody metric how dare they be so consistant, now if you have a bushel and mutilpied it by a cudgel and................
