Tomorrow's world

Wouldn't it be nice to have a science magazine programme like "Tomorrow's World", like good old Raymond Baxter and James Burke used to present (and before it was treated to the usual BBC dumbing down)
There must be so much new stuff out there, an hour long weekly programme would be the highlight of my viewing week (so long as it's not presented by the likes of Jeremy Clarkson!!).

I wasn't sure whether this should have been in the TV section. Apologies if I got it wrong.

I think our last hope was Adam Hart-Davis but I believe even he got ****** off with ahving to dress up in period costume etc and gave up.

Used to be the only programme I never missed and best of all it was live, so half the time things didn't work!! I know RB died not so long ago, but whatever happened to JB after he did 'Connections' (another brilliant series) in the late 70's/early 80's?

It was the only show of it`s kind at the time...everyone used to watch and think..."Nah...that`ll never happen"

Last time I watched it they were saying people would be communicating via computers etc

I remember the one about the possibility of the invention of mobile phones, which were the size of the old video recorders!

Try material world on Radio 4 - I'm sure if you're against dumbing down you won't mind radio

One of the problems with ''Tomorrow's World'' was the time it took them to get some things on air. So often they'd be bubbling with enthusiasm over some brand new idea or invention that I'd already read up on six months previously in 'New Scientist' or 'Scientific American'.
