I really hope somebdy on here can help me. I have 2 plaster/chalk figures which have come from a home where somebody smoked. The smoke has permeated them and they are REALLY smelly. I have wiped them but all that did was make them sticky. They are painted so I'm worried about immersing them in hot water. How can I get rid of the smell?

Thank you for answering. Would that affect the paint at all.
