For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.because oxygen's oxidation number is -2,if there are 3 oxygen atoms then the combined oxidation number for O3 becomes -6 , that, coupled with the -1oxidation number of iodine makes the total negative charge to be -7.However, there is only one sodium with an oxidation number +1,therefor,the the +ve and -ve charges are not totally cancelled out and thats why i think NaOI3 cannot exist.
I think you should think this through a bit more.

"NaOI iused to be sodium hypoiodite, now sodium iodate(I)"
Really? Even more weirder answers!
Sodium iodate is the sodium salt of iodic acid. Formula: NaIO3. MW: 197.89 CAS Number: 7681-55-2
Sodium hypoiodite is the sodium salt of hypoiodus acid. Formula: NaIO MW: 165.89 CAS Number: 22468-64-0
Hypoiodites behave both as reducing and oxidising agents. This behaviour results in them rapidly disproportionating into iodites and iodides. However, Sodium hypoiodite, is not sodium iodate(I), whatever that may be.
