subterranean oceans

i've just read the book Flood by stephen baxter, where water seeps into the oceans froma subterranean ocean, eventually flooding earth, how likely is this to happen, as i believe that one such ocean has been discovered under china? and do any others exist?

What would replace the water that is seeping out of the subterranean ocean though?
Personally, I'd choose further books from a different author.
That's how the Creationists try to explain Noah's flood. Which would have required more than three times the total amount of water currently in the oceans to cover all the mountains including Everest which is 6 miles high.
You don't learn science from science fiction.

Baxter is a fine writer though and knows his science, doesn't the book give an explanation of where the water comes from and the potential of this actually happening?
