science lab quote
I recall seeing the following on a sampler in the optics lab at Liverpool Uni in the 60s:
"Here truths sublime and sacred science charm......."
the last line was:
"....and piercing opticks more than eagle's eye"
Does anyone know the rest/where it originates from, please??
Thanks

Mechanic powers give more than Giant's arm
but it's the second line I am missing. I think it may have been originally the inscription over some famous laboratory (Newton??) and the embroidered sampler which I saw was a nice acknowledgment to the history of optics.
I have revisited the building in Liverpool where I saw it, but it's all changed.
