What is or was the probe`s life expectancy?  Is it still active or was it destroyed soon after landing?

It continued to transmit information for hours after it landed, so it didn't crash.  I'm not sure but it was probably only designed to do it for a short period of time.
The probe was designed to transmit for about 40 minutes after landing but incredably the batteries were still so good it transmited on both channels for 2.5 hours. Each battery comprises two modules of 13 LiSO2 (7.6 Ah) cells in series  a total power (nominal 300 W, maximum 400 W) is available on the 28 V supply.Cassini Characteristics
