reservoir - please can you help settle an arguement...

I say there are no 'currents' in a reservoir.. as basically it's just a huge puddle... however my friend and daughter disagree with me... who's correct..? (And the answer is me!!)

I think it depends on size. I recently went on a guided tour of Lake Powell which has been created by a damn big dam on the Colorado. I asked if there was a current and the answer was no because the relatively small amount of water entering is immediately stopped by the vast quantity it meets. Likewise the outflow; any effect is very local.
