Well, it's only just around the corner, innit...

What goodies - drinks and eats - do you like to have in your house over the festive period.

It goes without saying that I like plenty of wine and bubbles, but I always have a nice liqueur such as Tia Maria in over the xmas holidays. I love to stock up on nice cheeses, Quality Street and big squidgey dates.

How about you?

Nothing really. The shops are only closed for a couple of days. I learnt years ago not to bother buying extra as I tended to throw it away. I'm not one for snacking..

I like to have lots of deli stuff in for Boxing day, etc.

I might even get some Absolut and Apple Sourz in this year and make some martinis...
I've cancelled Christmas this year. Told the kids their getting nothing as I have no money.. in fact, it will be a miracle if we still have a roof over our heads...!!!
I'll buy extra alcohol....but Christmas is just an excuse.

Sorry to hear that, Hippy. No luck on the job front?
I don't have anything different particularly. I might get some mince pies if I'm in the mood.
hi nom, que tal?
isn´t xmas weird in spain. ok maybe not weird, but different. eg xmas day is a normal day. xmas eve seems to be bigger. not to mention the tres reyes

Muy bien, Piggy, y tú?

Yer, I had Christmas in Spain last year, for the very first time. I got a "pavo" from Mercadona for about 13 euros - not bad.

They tend to celebrate on the 6th Jan.
Cheeses, pickles, gammon, probably some venison as well.... upgrade the wines and treat myself to some luscious dessert wines too and lots of fizz... Mon Cheri chocs for my sister and home made truffles for everyone else... mince pies and my lethal boozy christmas cake

Alka seltzer or Andrews liver salts to follow
No NoM - sending out job applications left right and centre, got a Job Centre interview tomorrow (that should be a bag of laughs), but hopefully I'll come across better in person than on paper... ;-)

Best of luck, Hippy. x

Rowan... I think I'd better check my stockpile of liver salts. lol

my arms are getting to old for drumming to long .wish you all a merry thingy andy
me and the o/h dont bother far as we are concerned its just 2 days off work end of story!
I'd be like that if I didn't have kids. We've had some great Christmas parties though...
how long were you in spain for nom?
xmas eve is an eating frenzy, last year in hermanos casa, the suegra(mom in law) was expertly peeling seemingly dozens of prawns for me, not to mention all the other plates.Heres the best bit, what time do they normally start eating, go on tell em nom. 10pm or later.
I shall just be glad when it's all over! I detest Xmas and New Year!

All in all Piggy, over 4 years in Spain. And quite often, when dining around the corner, people wouldn't walk into the restaurant until 11pm. We'd always arrive at 9:30pm and we'd be the first ones in.

Ummmm... aren't xmas parties great !!
Me too tizz. dont know why but festive season really doesnt have any meaning or purpose other than to spend heaps and over eat and drink and have to put up with relative that you cant stand.
Can be. I use to have everyone at mine because my house was the biggest. My Uncle use to come every year and every year he would sleep through dinner. When I took him home he'd always thank me for a lovely meal...lol
Feeling ok, ummmm ? :o)
