Digital Radio

When is the UK turning off analogue radio and converting to all-digital? Why hasn`t digital radio taken off? My DAB radio used to have quite a few stations I could listen to but one by one they all seem to have disappeared. There are just a handful of BBC stations, plus Heart. I`m listening to my local radio station at the moment and they are fantastic but they`re still on analogue. With the possible demise of stations like that, will we have a dearth of good stations come switch-off time?
