Is it true that hot water will freeze more quickly than cold?  I have heard this rumoured, but never proven and cannot imagine why it would be so.  Any theories?

i read this somewher before, this science try it out. He got hot water around 100C and room temperature water something or other and it didn't work. But when u  get water over about 140C the water evaporates very quickly meaning their is less water to freeze so freezes quicker. So in fact it can because there is less water to freeze. If it was the same about, ie not evaporating it would not freeze faster
