Just had a problem with our phone line. Internet went down and line was doing loud screeching noise when I picked up the handset. Thus I tried calling it from my mobile and some woman 3 miles away answered!! We had a rather hilarious conversation where I had to explain I had not misdialled but there must be a problem.

I then phoned our service provider (which is entirely another story). While I was talking to him our phone rang. It was someone who wanted an entirely different number asking about a dog.

The FH has just rang his best mate across the lake and it was answered by Abdul and his number is now an Indian takeaway a few miles away.

What IS happening?!

But is sounds like an exchange fault.

... or some dumbo with a JCB has dug through a trunk cable somewhere.
Drive to your nearest telephone exchange, if, on route, you see a bunch of Paddys with a roll of electrical tape and a worried expression, there's your fault.

... otherwise, it's a card in the Exchange that's gone tits-up.
Oi....

My Dad was told today by his local Mr. Plod - in Barking the latest scam is the Eastern European gangs are cutting and nicking all the phone line wires and selling them.

Barmaid - it sounds like Doris on th switchboard has mixed all the lines up. (:0)
(excuse me for butting in) DEN I put something addressed to you on CB yesterday.

Sorry Barmaid.

Sounds like great fun Barmaid!!!
"... the latest scam ..."

They're only copying what the pikeys have been doing for donkey's years.
I'll have a look, Lottie - didn't see it. x
When that happened to me it turned out to be a faulty microfilter. The phone was ok as long as I wasn't connected to the internet, but made an awful screeching noise when I connected. So I used the spare micro filter that came with my internet kit,and that did the trick.
