Cigarette smoke

Have had visitors who smoke.How can I get rid of the smell of cigarette smoke from the house.Any suggestions gratefully received. Thanks. Giveup.

If you`ve got a scented oil burner, bergamot oil seems to neutralise the smell of cigarette smoke.

i think people have a cheek smoking in your house --and i'm a smoker!
i dont ever smoke in my own house, never, and certainly not in other peoples.

I agree with pusskins.

I'm a smoker and I would never dream of smoking in a non-smokers house if I visited.

Scented candles also clear the smell well.

My brother and SIL are non-smokers, my OH and I are. When we visited, we did without ciggies for several hours. No skin off our noses, it's polite to respect other peoples homes.
How would the feel if they'd damaged your carpet with a dropped lit ciggie?

Just don;t have them around again.

u cud either start coughing so much that its wud sound as if yr dying, put up no smoking signs around the house, or basically say we dont allow smoking in our since our neighbour died of lung cancer!!

If people ask me if they mind if they smoke I just say yes I do mind.

They can go down the bottom of the garden if they like as long as the make sure the smoke goes over the field!!

If I smoked I wouldn't ask people if they minded me smoking in their house though. I just wouldn't do it. I wouldn't dream of inflicting it on anyone.


When we first moved into our cottage all the walls and ceilings were a lovely shade of mustard and it smelt to high heaven. Good job we removed most of the inside walls!!

LOL Nosha. The place was virtually derelict. We rebuilt it with our own fair hands!! No builders!!

At most DIY stores here in the U.S. you can rent an Ion deodorizing machine reasonable for about 8 yours. You simply place it in the room and turn it on. Works well and leaves a pleasant, non-perfumey odor after complete...
Hotels use them quite a bit...
