Stress-Free Christmas Lunch

My partner and I have decided to do without the stress of cooking Christmas lunch and have decided to get an Indian take-away on Christmas Eve and reheat it on 25 December, followed by posh ice cream.Yum!

Good idea. My local curry house is open Christmas Day and will be doing take aways if ordered in advance. I’d do the same if I didn’t have a houseful that want traditional Christmas fare.

Christmas lunch can be as stressful or stress-free as you wish to make it...which is why, if you don't have guests that expect the full works, this is just the way to go.

You are not supposed to reheat rice by the way. Other than that is sounds lovely.

Margo, rice is the single biggest cause of food poisoning, whether cold or reheated. Probably all anyone needs to know.

That sounds excellent and I'm sure you'll enjoy it. I have often re-heated rice with both Chinese and Indian meals and never, ever had a problem. I'm going out to a pub for Christmas Dinner, so no stress at all for me !

I agree, you are not meant to. But I do it all the time and Mr BM is still alive ;)

My Christmas lunch will be stress free. Most of it will be prepared in advance and stuck in the freezer (already have a lot done). My sister and sister in law will be bringing quite a bit and will be coming early to help, but it is just a roast after all.

No doubt we'll open the fizz about 11 and by 1 no one will care anyway.

I'm helping out at the local Sally Army on Christmas Day. Feed those who need it most, and I get a Christmas lunch too. Completely hassle free ;-)

I've always been sensible (I hope) cool quickly and keep cool and then reheat till piping hot and only the once.

I guess the only real issue is the fact that with a takeaway, you haven't cooked it yourself, so you are putting faith in the one who did cook it.
