Getting A Better Wifi/Ethernet Signal.

We have just moved to new apartment. In our old house, my PC had a direct ethernet connection to my hub, so no problems with internet speed. In our new place, the ethernet socket for the hub is near the TV, so the BT TV box has no problem as its connected by ethernet cable. However, my PC is now in the next room with no ethernet socket. My hub is getting a speed of about 600mbps and if I put my phone by it, that gets a similar speed too. I tried using TP Link powerline connectors from the hub to the PC, but the speed at the PC was only 50mbps. As I could get around 400mbps on my phone beside the PC tower, I thought I'd get a WiFi aerial that goes into a USB 3.0 socket on my PC. This has improved the speed on the PC to around 200mbps. So two questions really.

1) Has anyone got any bright ideas on how to inprove my PC speed? (Running an ethernet cable from the hub to my PC is not an option unfortunately).

2) Any idea why my phone still gets a WiFi speed of around 400 from the hub, but the PC in the same place only gets about 200?

I can't help but the speed you are getting is really very good.  I'm surprised you've noticed any real difference in use

Did you test the speed on your pc with your previous setup?  How old is your PC?  If it's getting on a bit you could try an up to date external wifi adapter and remember to disable the onboard one.

I know it's pretty good, but if I'm paying for 600mbps I'd like to have 600. The new Wi-Fi adapter is an external one...there isn't an onboard one.

Sounds like you need a new wifi dongle.

You're probably paying for ' up to 600'. I'm on abup to  80/20 connection reality is 65/15.

So basically when connected via an ethernet cable the pc was showing speeds of 600 am I right?

If your Internet Service Provider (ISP) is similar to mine, you are paying up to ten dollars a month for a separate Wi-Fi option in addition to your Internet plan. I recommend declining that option and purchasing your own router instead of relying on the one provided by the ISP.

Thanks for the comments. I'll look at the vids tomorrow. 
It is a new Wi-Fi dongle. Before I moved here I was on 300mbps and the pc got that no problem. I realise I'm paying for 'up to' 600 and expect some drop due to using Wi-Fi, but thought it was a bit much. I'll look at those vids and see how I get on.
