I'm looking for a good game I can buy to play with the family over Christmas? There are only 4 of us. I was thinking something more along the lines of Cranium than a traditional board game like Scrabble or Monopoly.
Balderdash is excellent and will really find out which of you can keep a straight face while lying your socks off!!! Articulate is good too but depends on the age of your players.
Set - it's a game with special cards, you find sets of three that match on several attributes (color, shape, number, shading). Can be played competitively or as a team. School kids can do as well as adults - it's a brain exercise.
Rapidough, each team or person has a piece of dough/plasticine and has to make the object on the card and there partner has to guess it, if they don�t you lose a bit of dough, making it harder each time to sculpt anything.
How about Articulate.
I've played it with the family quite a few times and it's great fun.
Describe the words on the cards without saying the actual word, some might be too tough for younger players but you could let them away with more passes.
We've never figured out the correct way to play it exactly, but our own made up rules seem to work!
Trivial Pursuit, Family Fortunes and the one where you
