Forever Young??
41 Answers
An early death is shocking and tragic.Just want to get that out the way :(
Elvis would have been 75 today as most will know.
My memories of him are of a gorgeous talented youthful man (pre Las Vegas). I just cant envisage him as an old man-would he still be the legend he is today or has he become an icon?
I lost someone as some will know and he will never grow old in my memory.
How many others are forever young in your memory and heart and how do you feel about it?

I know Doc -i do agree with you just wanted to see how people felt about them.
Its certainly not sentimental reasons for those 2 -anyway -they were a different class.
rinkinns -I totally understand -thats the way i feel about the person i lost -i'll grow old and wrinkly and he'll be laughing cos I have overtaken him and in our minds eye he will always be in his prime. His time was up so I do get comfort that my memories are of a reasonably fit man lol (im laughing as I hesitated to say middle aged there lol)

Elvis was my idol Dris. I've loved him ever since I was 12 years old & still have photo of him inside my Little Women book which I was given at that age! He died on my 30th birthday & I shall never forget that day. (I'm actually listening to the Elvis story on Radio 2 as I type).
Yes, Buddy Holly, James Dean & many others come to mind.
Apart from famous people, the ones I will always think of as young, are my dearest friends three children who passed away ages, 8 yrs, 13 yrs & 16 yrs. Their beautiful young faces will stay with us forever. God bless 'em. -xx-

I was watching him last night in the Black Leather skit he did. i can't think if it was on BBC3 or 4 now, but it was lovely to see him like that. A wonderful looking man in his time and I often wonder what he and other like him, such as Marilyn Munro would have been doing now. I suspect Elvis would still making the charts as he has done recently so long after his death.
I wonder if Marilyn would have still looked so beautiful or have been acting still.
But I suppose with a lady like her it is better to remember how she was rather than how she would look now. I would hate to think what time might have done to her.

My friends & me are going to Wembley in Feb to see 'Elvis' in concert. We've been before & it was fantastic:

Dris, I was only 8 months old when Elvis died, so don't remember the furore surrounding his death.
For me, I suppose the most shocking death was that of Princess Diana. I was 20 when she was killed, but now just over 4 years younger than she was when she died. I was never a Diana fan, but will always picture her as a very glamorous woman in the prime of her life.

smudge-just shows he touched eveyone -covered all generations -mind you counting back I was just in my early 20's when he passed away.I have a friend in her 20's and Elvis is her absolute idol -yet she wasnt even born when he died !! I'd love to go and see that -hope its touring !!
Bless their wee cotton socks -I dont know the circumstances of your wee angels passing -must have been terribly tragic though but in years to come when you remember them then they will always be the same x
tigerlilly -thats what i wondered -would he have weathered the passage of time? I suspect he would have like you !!
Marlyn would have remained an icon -like Elizabeth Taylor - age hasnt fazed her at all !

I was living in Worcester at the time Rinkins, and I rarely put the telly on on a Sunday morning. But for some inexplicable reason, I felt compelled to turn on the Tv. I remember hearing the word "accident" being mentioned in the same sentence as Diana, and instantly thought she'd had a skiing accident. When the full story emerged, I was deeply shocked. I rang my mother, but couldn't get through for ages, as the phone networks were just swamped.
NoM -that was one of the single most shocking things (apart from family of course) that I will never forget.Wakening up and switching on the tele with remnants of the last nights kebab to heat up (still on the bed) and there it was !! I was so shocked - just phoning everyone !
She will always be forever young in my minds eye anyway.
