You hear the same old Christmas songs every year ...over and over again.
How much money do these artists make per radio play ?
Chap from mud was on radio today and said he does make so much money from royalties these days , due to internet downloads and people getting music for free.
Surely it can't just be down to nostalgia ?..............the fact that we don't seem to have had a memorable Christmas sing-along record in the chart for years .............?
Hi SIRandyraven, Not a Christmas song but I read earlier that Simon Neil who penned the song Matt from x-factor released made £30K from 40,000 of their own sales of the same song. Not bad eh?
Back in 2003, BBC Radio 1 was paying £18.44 per minute of airplay to the PRS. So that was around £60 per single track. (I've heard figures of £80 per track for Radio 1, and £100 per track on Radio 2, quoted as current but I can't track down any exact figures). The amount that a recording artist from get from that would depend upon the terms of his contract with the record company.
